Teeth Whitening

Free Invisalign consult only at Glo Dental Beeliar (offer ends July 23).

Teeth whitening is a simple procedure which can do wonders to your confidence by improving the appearance of your smile. At Glo Dental, offer two types of teeth whitening options”:

1) In-Chair Laser Whitening using Biolase epicX
2) Take Home Whitening

What is the Biolase epicX?

The Biolase epicX uses Laser technology to create bright smiles faster. It is the one of the fastest teeth whitening system and its ergonomic design ensures maximum comfort. The Biolase epicX is also very suited to people with sensitive teeth.

How long do the results last?

The results from the Biolase epicX generally lasts 3-5 years. It’s important to maintain good dental hygiene at home and also get your teeth professionally cleaned every 6 months so as to ensure you get the most from your whitening treatment.

Also of note is the fact that there is no reversal of the colour of your teeth in the days following your whitening treatment, as is common with other poorer quality treatments or shopping centre whitening booths.

It is important to note that existing tooth coloured fillings / crowns / veneers / false teeth do not change colour with the whitening treatment.

What causes teeth to stain?

Discolouration of teeth can be caused by a variety of reasons:

  • Smoking
  • Dietary habits – excessive consumption of tea, coffee, red wine, soft drinks
  • Effects of some childhood antibiotics like tetracyclines or related drugs
  • Most commonly, time – as we get older our teeth get yellower.

It is important to determine the cause of the discolouration and also whether the discolouration is on the surface of the teeth or inside the teeth. An initial examination to determine your enamel thickness, check for receding gums, any existing sensitivity, any existing tooth decay, existing restorations (e.g. fillings, crowns and veneers), any other oral diseases or conditions must be done prior to any whitening treatment.

Tooth Tip!

The best way to keep a healthy white smile is to maintain good oral health. Brushing and flossing your teeth daily can help remove surface stains from your teeth. Also getting your teeth professionally cleaned every 6 months ensures your teeth stay whiter for longer.

Teeth whitening is a simple procedure which can do wonders to your confidence by improving the appearance of your smile. At Glo Dental, we use the SmartBleach 3LT system which is the world’s most effective photo-dynamic teeth-whitening system.

What is the SmartBleach 3LT technology?

The SmartBleach 3LT system uses technology very similar to laser, in which it utilises the power of a bright green light to whiten teeth without the use of heat, meaning that it is much safer for the health of your teeth than other whitening treatments. This unique treatment system whitens teeth with virtually no dehydration of the teeth.

How does the SmartBleach 3LT system work?

The SmartBleach 3LT treatment uses a patented process where a laser-like green light is combined with a red alkaline gel to create an intense whitening effect within the tooth structure. The interaction between the green light and red gel creates a non-acidic teeth whitening process. This photo-dynamic effect means that SmartBleach 3LT creates whitening without any dehydration or demineralisation of the teeth.

Will the SmartBleach 3LT treatment make my teeth sensitive?

No, most patients do not feel anything. Some patients report a tingling sensation during treatment, and any residual sensation fades away in 1-2 days.
